Practice management software for ICAI members in practice

MyTask is independent of ICAI

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is the governing body of the chartered accountancy profession in India. MyTask has no tie-up of any kind with the Institute. It is not made, endorsed or recommended by ICAI, and nothing on this page speaks for it. MyTask is built and sold by Gajanan Softwares Pvt. Ltd.

Every chartered accountant practising in India is a member of the ICAI, so software for ICAI members is, in practice, software that fits a CA firm as the profession actually runs it: articled assistants who are away for exams, digital signatures held on clients' behalf, and returns whose filing has to be confirmed on government portals.

This page describes MyTask and nothing else. MyTask is paid software, priced per user, for any practice that chooses it.

Features made for CA firms

These are the parts of MyTask that exist because a chartered accountant's office is not an ordinary office.

  1. Articled assistants' leave, counted the way a CA firm needs

Leave is split by type rather than kept as one figure: study and coaching-class leave, sick leave, college exam leave, and ICAI exam, GMCS, ITT and orientation leave. Days away for ICAI exams, GMCS, ITT or orientation can be treated as present, shown in their own column, so an articled assistant sitting exams is not charged leave for it.

  2. An attendance rule that suits a firm with articled assistants

Attendance is marked only from saved office or client locations. The firm chooses how strictly it is enforced: every working day must be accounted for, or attendance may be marked within a short window afterwards. A practice with assistants in and out of exam leave rarely wants the same rule as a fixed office team.

  3. UDINs, recorded with the audit or certificate they belong to

The UDIN is recorded as part of the audit and certificate information on the job, and the records export to Excel, so the firm's list of UDINs is something it can pull out rather than a separate spreadsheet somebody has to keep up.

  4. Clients' digital signatures

A register of every DSC the firm holds: whose it is, when it was given and returned, which client it is assigned to, where it is kept, and when it expires, with alerts before it does.

  5. A GST task that cannot be closed until the return is filed

The GST Return Status Checker reads the GSTN portal itself, so a GST task cannot be marked complete unless the return has genuinely been filed.

  6. Every ITR's status on one screen

The Income Tax Return Status Portal tracks the status of every return on a single dashboard, follows EVC and manual verification automatically, and emails an alert when a new issue appears on a return.

  7. Recurring statutory work raised in batches

Recurring work can create itself on a set frequency, or MyTask keeps a batch for every service the firm sells — GST 3B, TDS 26Q, tax audit — and proposes each year's client list from the work done before; a batch raises nothing until the firm approves it.

About this page

It says nothing about the Institute, its rules or its guidance, and it compares MyTask with nothing. For anything about the Institute itself, the place to go is the ICAI's own website, icai.org.

Questions practising chartered accountants ask

Is MyTask connected with ICAI?
No. There is no tie-up of any kind. MyTask is independent software made by Gajanan Softwares Pvt. Ltd.
Is MyTask free for ICAI members?
No. MyTask is paid software for every firm that uses it, priced per user per month. The pricing page shows exactly what a practice of your size would pay.
Can we keep a record of the UDINs we generate?
Yes. The UDIN is recorded as part of the audit and certificate information, and the records export to Excel. The UDIN itself is still generated on the ICAI's UDIN portal.
Does it handle articled assistants who are away for ICAI exams?
Yes, with the attendance and leave add-on. ICAI exam, GMCS, ITT and orientation leave is its own leave type, and those days can be treated as present rather than deducted.
Does MyTask file GST or income tax returns?
No. Filing stays on the government portals. MyTask tracks the work, and with the status add-ons it reads whether a GST or income tax return has actually been filed.
