Income Tax Return Status Portal

Track All Income Tax Returns Status on Single Screen Dashboard

24 reports come off this one screen, and 3 things you can do from inside it without opening another. Every one is named below, with what it actually answers — so you can tell before a demo whether this is the screen you have been doing by hand.

Income Tax Return Status Portal

Reports from this screen24 reports

  1. Clients Tracked On The Portal

Every client whose income tax portal account the firm is watching, as the denominator for everything else on the screen.

  2. Clients With Working Portal Credentials

The accounts MyTask can actually read, as a count and as a percentage of the client list.

  3. Clients Whose Login No Longer Works

Credentials that have stopped working — changed passwords, locked accounts. This is the first report to act on, because a client whose portal cannot be read is a client whose return status nobody knows. In the demo firm that is 375 of 3,801.

  4. Returns Filed

How many of this assessment year's returns are actually on the portal, not how many were marked done internally.

  5. Returns Not Filed

The gap between the client list and the filings — a third of the book in the demo account, and the single number a partner wants in September.

  6. Verification Completed

Returns e-verified or physically verified, so they are safely lodged rather than merely submitted.

  7. Verification Still Pending

Filed, and not yet verified. An unverified return lapses, which makes this the most time-critical figure on the screen.

  8. Verification Due Within 7 Days

Returns whose verification window closes inside a week. Filing a return and forgetting to verify it undoes the whole job, and nothing on the portal chases you.

  9. Verification Due In 8 To 30 Days

The same countdown, one step earlier, so the work can be planned instead of rescued.

  10. Filed Within Due Date Or Revised

Returns lodged on time, kept apart from late ones because their verification deadlines differ.

  11. Filed After Due Date

Late filings, with their own verification countdown.

  12. Returns Processed By The Department

Assessment complete at the department's end — the point at which a refund or a demand becomes real.

  13. Processed: No Demand, No Refund

The clean outcome, and the largest group in the demo firm.

  14. Refunds Paid

Money actually received by the client — the outcome they will ring about.

  15. Refund Due, Payment Pending

Assessed as owed and not yet paid. Worth chasing, and invisible unless somebody looks.

  16. Refunds That Failed

A refund the department tried to pay and could not — usually a bank detail problem. Four clients in the demo account who would otherwise wait indefinitely for money already granted.

  17. Refunds Adjusted Against Demand

Where a refund has been set off against an outstanding demand rather than paid.

  18. Demands Raised

Returns where the department wants more money. Time-critical, and the reason to watch processing at all.

  19. Returns Still Under Processing

Filed, verified, and waiting on the department — over a quarter of the book in the demo account.

  20. Pending Response Under Section 143(1)(a)

Returns where the department has raised a proposed adjustment and is waiting on a reply. Miss the window and the adjustment stands.

  21. Prepaid Taxes Matching Failed

TDS or advance tax claimed that the department cannot match — the most common cause of an unexpected demand.

  22. Defective Returns

Returns the department has flagged as defective, which lapse if not corrected.

  23. Invalid Returns

Returns that have failed outright, split by whether they were filed on time or late.

  24. Status Cannot Be Determined

The portal's answer was unreadable for these. Shown rather than quietly counted as something else — a dashboard that hides its own uncertainty is worse than one that admits it.

Actions you can take from this screen3 actions

  1. Any assessment year, any branch

Switch the whole dashboard to another assessment year, or read one office at a time.

  2. Read straight from the Income Tax portal

The dashboard carries the time it last read the portal. Nobody logs into the income tax site client by client; MyTask does it and stamps when.

  3. Click any number to see the clients

Every count is a list. Thirty-two refunds pending is a name-by-name list of who to chase, not a number to admire.
